Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions explain the general basis on which Ellis Skips provides skip hire, tonne bag, waste collection and related services, together with the general terms applying to use of this website.
1. About these terms
These Terms & Conditions set out the general basis on which Ellis Skips provides skip hire, tonne bag, waste collection and related services. They should be read together with any quotation, booking confirmation, invoice or other written terms agreed for a particular job.
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove or reduce any statutory rights that a consumer has under applicable law.
2. Bookings and quotations
Prices and availability may depend on the service required, the type and amount of waste, the delivery or collection location, access conditions, hire period and any permit or specialist disposal requirements. A booking is confirmed when Ellis Skips accepts the customer's request on the agreed basis.
The customer is responsible for giving accurate information about the job, including the waste involved, access restrictions and where the skip, bag or collection vehicle is expected to be positioned.
3. Prices and payment
The price payable will be the price agreed for the booking, together with any additional charge that is properly due because the customer changes the scope, exceeds an agreed allowance, requires extra time or causes additional work that could not reasonably have been included in the original price.
Payment must be made in accordance with the payment terms given when the booking is accepted or shown on the relevant invoice.
4. Delivery, access and placement
The customer must provide safe and reasonable access for delivery and collection vehicles. Parked vehicles, low branches, narrow entrances, weak surfaces, overhead cables, gates and other restrictions should be disclosed before the booking is confirmed.
Where the customer asks for a skip or other equipment to be placed on private property, Ellis Skips will take reasonable care but cannot guarantee that every driveway, paving surface, verge or access route will be suitable for the weight and movement of the vehicle or container. The customer should raise any concerns before delivery.
5. Road permits and permissions
A skip placed on a public road may require a permit or other approval. The parties should agree before delivery who is responsible for arranging any required permission and associated charge.
The customer is responsible for obtaining permission from a landlord, managing agent, landowner or other relevant person where the proposed placement area is not under the customer's sole control.
6. What may be placed in a skip or bag
Only waste that Ellis Skips has agreed to accept may be placed in a skip, bag or collection load. Certain materials may need separate handling or may be prohibited from standard mixed-waste services.
Hazardous, chemical, medical, pressurised, liquid or other specialist waste must not be included unless Ellis Skips has expressly confirmed that it can be accepted. If the customer is unsure about any item, the customer should ask before loading it.
7. Loading and overfilling
Waste must be loaded safely and must not project dangerously from the container or prevent lawful and safe transport. Skips should not be filled above the permitted level.
Ellis Skips may refuse or postpone collection where a load is unsafe, overloaded or contains unapproved material. Any reasonable additional cost of making the load safe, removing prohibited material or returning for collection may be charged to the customer where the issue was caused by the customer.
8. Hire period and collection
The expected hire period should be agreed when the booking is made. If the customer needs longer, they should contact Ellis Skips as early as possible because extensions are subject to availability and may involve an additional charge.
When the customer is ready for collection, access to the skip or bag must be kept clear. Collection times may need to change because of traffic, vehicle availability, weather, access issues or other operational circumstances.
9. Cancellations and changes
If a customer needs to cancel or amend a booking, they should contact Ellis Skips as soon as possible. Where cancellation causes a genuine cost that cannot reasonably be avoided, a fair charge may be retained or requested, subject to the customer's statutory rights.
Where consumer cancellation rights apply to a distance or off-premises contract, those rights are not excluded by these terms.
10. Damage, loss and customer responsibility
The customer is responsible for taking reasonable care of any skip, bag or equipment supplied while it is at the customer's location and for preventing unauthorised use where reasonably possible.
The customer should not move, alter, burn within, mechanically compact or otherwise misuse a skip or container unless Ellis Skips has agreed to it.
11. Delays and events outside reasonable control
Delivery and collection times are given in good faith but can be affected by traffic, weather, breakdowns, road closures, permit delays, site access and other circumstances outside reasonable control. Ellis Skips will take reasonable steps to minimise avoidable disruption and keep the customer informed where practicable.
12. Liability and statutory rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that a consumer cannot lawfully waive.
For consumer bookings, Ellis Skips is responsible for losses that are a reasonably foreseeable result of its breach or negligence, subject to applicable law.
13. Website information
Information, photographs, service descriptions and guidance on this website are provided to explain the services offered. They do not replace a job-specific quotation or confirmation where site conditions, waste type, access or permit requirements affect what can be provided.
Third-party links, maps and platforms are provided for convenience and are governed by the relevant third party's own terms and privacy practices.
14. Personal information
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy on this website. The Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies may be used.
15. Complaints and contact
If a customer has a concern about a booking or service, they should contact Ellis Skips promptly using the telephone or enquiry details shown on this website so that the matter can be reviewed and, where appropriate, put right.
16. Governing law
For services supplied in England and Wales, these terms and the relevant contract are generally governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply.
